Roma Community of Giugliano. The solidarity of the Baptist and of the Waldensian churches
Rome (NEV), May 25, 2019 – “The Christian Baptist Evangelical Union of Italy (UCEBI) expresses its solidarity with the Roma community of Giugliano, in the province of Naples, which underwent on Friday 10 May 2019 a forced eviction by the police, in clear infringement of international standards on evacuation procedures”. This can be read in a statement released by UCEBI which also denounces how 450 people, including 200 children – almost of them born in Giugliano or in Italy – pregnant women and elderly people, have been living in the street for a week, with the only help of the Libera Association and Caritas.
Ucebi, Giovanni Arcidiacono re-elected president
RIFORMA, 3 November 2018 - Day of intense work and voting on Saturday 3 November in the penultimate day of the 45th Assembly of Ucebi, the Christian Baptist Union of Italy. Giovanni Paolo Arcidiacono has been reconfirmed as president and thus begins his second term. Confirmation also for the vice-president Giuseppe Miglio.
Rome (NEV), April 9th, 2018 – After 210 years of activity, the British and Foreign Bible Society (SBBF) in Italy ends its activity. From the 1st of April, the Society interrupted the editing and the distribution of biblical texts in view of the permanent cessation of its presence in our country.
“In these years – wrote Valdo Bertalot, director of SBBF, in a letter sent to the friends of the Society – SBBF made a commitment to coping with the ongoing economic crisis that also affects the Italian publishing industry, above all the religious one”.
XVII-XVIII FCEI Assembly. Baptist pastor Luca Maria Negro elected as new president
Rome (NEV), December 9, 2015 – The XVIII Assembly of the Federation of Protestant Churches in Italy (FCEI), held in Pomezia (RM), according to the new statute approved on December 6 and come into force on December 8, elected the Baptist pastor Luca Maria Negro as new president. He succeeds to pastor Massimo Aquilante, at the end of his second and last mandate.
